Seasider Classic & District Middle School Tournament

Tournament Discription

              This year the tournament will be hosted at Peninsula High School in the main competition GYM.  The First round of wrestling will begin at 3:00.  We will wrestle the first four rounds on two mats and the championship round on one mat starting at 6:pm.  Following the Championship round Gig Harbor will wrestle Peninsula in the Seasider Classic to decide who will hold the Seasider Trophy for the next yer.  Peninsula Has held the Trophy for over the last six years.  There will be a snack bar.  There is no entry fee for the middle school tournament, however there will be for the high school match.  The ticket booth will open at 6:30.

         
This is a five round tournament using a NFHS 8-Competitor Championship Bracket with Consolation Cross-Bracketing.   Each round will consist of two matches per weight class.  Mat assignments will be made by weight class instead of bout sheet.   Rounds #1-4 will be run on two mats.  The final round will be run on one.  < xml="true" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" prefix="o" namespace="">

In round #1 seeds 1 and 2 have byes.  Seeds 4 and 5 will wrestle (A1) and seeds 3 and 6 will wrestle (A2).  Round two the losers of A1 and A2 will have byes and the 1 seed will wrestle the winner of A1 while the 2 seed wrestles the winner of A2.  The winners of round two move on to the finals to wrestle their match in round #5 at < xml="true" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" prefix="st1" namespace="">2:50.  Round three the losers of A1 and B2 wrestle and the losers of 1B and 2A wrestle.  The winners advance to compete for 3rd and 4th while the losers compete for 5th and 6th in round #4.  Round #5 will be wrestled on two mats in the gym for 1st and 2nd.

                                All awards will be given out by weight class at the conclusion of the final round.  Only tournament staff and coaching staff will be allow in the tournament areas.  Each team will be given three tags, two for coaches and one for a manager to enter the tournament floor.  Each wrestler will be allowed two staff members in their corner.  Only wrestlers “on deck” or “in the hole” are permitted on the tournament floor.  All wrestlers will report to assigned mat in weight class groups.  Wrestlers with byes must report to assigned mat with weight class groups and sign bout sheets. For those interested team tournament points will be totaled and available at the conclusion of the meet.

Tournaments with Eight Places

First Place - 16 points; Second Place - 12 points; Third Place - 9 points; Fourth Place - 7 points; Fifth Place - 5 points; Sixth Place - 3 points, Seventh Place – 2 points, Eighth Place – 1 point.

Example: A wrestler  that wins all of his matches by pin would receive 2 point for each advancement (8 points), 2 points for each pin (8 points), and 16 points for placing 1st. For a total of 32 team points.

J
unior Varsity Wrestlers will not contribute to team points.
